Del Monte Beach Dive In Earth Day 2009 - a Modesto Dream Divers Event

This years Dive In Earth Day is going to be on April 25, 2009.

Last years Dive In Earth Day 2008 had over 200 volunteers and 65 divers in the water from everywhere join us in cleaning up Del Monte Beach. The Raffle had items donated such as twin Jet Max Fins, Scubapro Regulator, Aqua Lung Regulator and many more great prizes. Over $4000 worth of prizes.

The biggest winners however was the ocean. Removed was almost enough trash and debris to fill a 20 yard dumpster. Over 150 bags of garbage was collected just off of the beach itself. That is just about two garbage trucks if you want to put it in perspective.

Dive In activities take place during the month of April, in celebration of Earth Day (April 19th).

Dive In To Earth Day was launched in 2000 to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Earth Day. The Coral Reef Alliance (CORAL) coordinated the past events in partnership with Project AWARE Foundation and with the support of Air Pacific, Earth Day Network, International Coral Reef Action Network (ICRAN), and West Marine.
