It was a close one between Curt's and Cal's. Each were the same length. However Cal won out on width. Congratulations Cal!

Dan's 2007 Abalone Cook-Off Recipe


The Abalone Fixings:

1 - 9 inch or larger Abalone

1 lb Angel Hair Pasta ( I used fettucine)

1 cup All Purpose Flour

1/2 cup Butter

1/2 cup Honey (the original recipe called for a cup but I balked - thinking it would be too sweet)

1/4 maybe 1/3 cup (I eyeballed it) Amaretto Liquer (the object was to not have one thing i.e. butter, honey or amaretto too overpowering)

1. Bring pot of lightly salted water to boil. Add pasta and cook for 8-10 minutes

2. Stir honey, butter and almonds to a nice paste set aside

3. Place flour in bowl and season with a pinch of salt, dredge ab and cook about halfway

4. pour in almond butter and stir it up real good with the ab. Cook till done

5. Pour Amaretto all over the sucker and light it on fire (it keeps the flavor but burns off the alchohol)

6. Stir in noodles and serve hot.

7. Have a glass of Amaretto. It goes bad once it's been open.
