Sea&Sea DX-3100 Aquapix Camera Recall
Sea&Sea is recalling its DX-3100 Aquapix amphibious camera due to the possibility of a crack appearing in the battery compartment door that may lead to water leakage...

According to Stephen Ashmore, President / Tabata USA - Distributors for Sea&Sea in the U.S., Caribbean and Central America, "Although we have only received a limited number of these reports, even the remotest possibility of this condition appearing has prompted Sea&Sea to take affirmative and positive action, and therefore we would like to request that you return your DX-3100 Aquapix to the following address for testing and any necessary upgrading if within these corresponding serial numbers."

Corresponding Serial Numbers: 000000001 ~ 030204016

"Although all our products are pressure tested before leaving the factory, our Research Department determined that the reported cases resulted from micro cracks, caused by physical stress after a certain period of time, that formed in the battery compartment door.

"Sea&Sea would like to apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you, and will make every effort to ship back your camera within 7 days of receiving it."

For more information, including a pre-paid label to send to the company for the upgrade, visit http://www.seaandsea.com.

The Coral Reef Alliance (CORAL) is proud to announce the launching of the CORAL Discussion Board. We hope this site will make a significant
contribution to global coral reef protection by stimulating dialogue on a
variety of issues related to the conservation of these dynamic yet
threatened marine ecosystems. The discussion board will allow individuals,
organizations, businesses and government agencies within the fields of
marine conservation, park management, science, recreation and tourism to
seek technical advice and share lessons learned with others in a global
network of communication.

While there are a wide variety of marine conservation issues that can be
discussed, appropriate topics may include things such as mooring buoy
projects, coral reef monitoring, artificial reefs, educational materials and
programs, sustainable tourism, coral park management and general
conservation initiatives. If you have topics that you would like to see
addressed within a global network of peers, or if you need technical
assistance or advice on how to better protect the reefs of your local
region, then we encourage you to click on the link below to register as a
member and join the discussion. Most especially, if you have conservation
success stories and practices that others can learn from, we would like for
you to share your knowledge with others in this forum. http://www.coralreefalliance.org/parks/cdb

U.S. eased rules on tuna despite bribery claim
The U.S. Commerce Department has been aware for five years of
allegations that government observers on Mexican tuna-fishing boats
were regularly taking $10,000 bribes to concoct false reports that
they were not netting dolphins, according to an internal agency e-mail
obtained by The Chronicle.

BBurney said American tuna processors support the more stringent
definition of dolphin-safe promoted by Earth Island Institute and
other environmental groups. "We absolutely will not buy
dolphin-encircled tuna," he said. "It's clear to us that U.S.
consumers don't want it. I think any move in that direction would
cause a big outcry."
