News from Mendocino Area Parks Association:

The Bo-Cah Ama Council continues to seek fundraising ideas that will eventually effect the completion of the Pomo Demonstration Village and Cultural Center. One of the latest ways of fundraising is the sale of the Mendocino Coast Abalone Cookoff Book, featuring recipes from 1993-1997 Abalone Festivals held at Van Damme State Park. Funds from the sale of these cookbooks are dedicated to the completion of the Bo-Cah Ama project which will then help to educate school children and the general public about the culture and traditions of the Coastal Pomo people. Contact MAPA at PO Box 1387, Mendocino, CA 95460 or (707) 937-5397

He will also highlight the Sanctuary's volunteer programs in which citizens take a dynamic role in helping helping the Sanctuary to achieve its goals and explain how Bay Area residents can be involved. This lecture takes place at the Oakland Museum of California on Friday, May 3rd 7:00 to 8:30 pm. suggested donation is $5. to learn more about the Farallones Marine Sanctuary and upcoming events click on to www.farallones.org
